Jakarta, CYBERNUSANTARA1.ID –  Dewan Sengketa Indonesia (DSI) / Indonesia Dispute Board (IDB) is an alternative dispute resolution institution established by certified and competent Mediator / Adjudicator / Conciliator / Arbitrator in order to provide Alternative Dispute Resolution services using Institutional Mediation / Adjudication / Conciliation / Arbitration / Dispute Board.

It is known, in practice in the field of Institutional Alternative Dispute Resolution, Mediation / Adjudication / Conciliation / Arbitration procedures are used to resolve business disputes.

In his statement, Prof. Sabela Gayo, S.H., M.H., Ph.D., CPL., CPCLE., ACIArb., CPM., CPrM., CPT., CCCLE., CML., CPM., CPC., CPA., CPArb., CPLi. , said, “Since the inauguration of the Indonesian Dispute Board (IDB) in July 2021, IDB has launched 47 (forty seven) Dispute Service Rooms. The 47 (forty seven) Dispute Service Rooms are a reflection of IDB’s commitment to become single forum for all Arbitrators in Indonesia,” he said to media crew via WhatsApp short message Monday 2 September 2024.

“The Indonesian Dispute Board (IDB) already has international collaboration with various International Commercial Mediation and Arbitration institutions including, Singapore International Mediation Center (SIMC), Arbitration Foundation of South Africa (AFSA), Cyprus Arbitration and Mediation Center (CAMC), Malaysian International Mediation Center (MIMC), Cambodian Center for Mediation (CCM), Thailand Arbitration Center (THAC), Thai Arbitration Institute (TAI), Hongkong International Arbitration Center (HKIAC), Beijing International Arbitration Center (BIAC), Abu Dhabi Global Market (ADGM) Arbitration Centre, Korean Commercial Arbitration Board (KCAB) International, Australian Dispute Resolution Association (ADRA), Tanzania Institute of Arbitrators (TIArb), and Chinese Arbitration Association (CAA), Taipei,” he explained.

“In the future, the Indonesian Dispute Board (IDB) will also collaborate with other international commercial Mediation and Arbitration institutions in the United States, the Netherlands, England, Germany, France and various other countries on the continents of Africa, Asia, Europe and America,” he said.

Until now, he continued, “The Indonesian Dispute Board (IDB) is committed to strengthening the Alternative Dispute Resolution system in the Southeast Asia region, therefore the Indonesian Dispute Board (IDB) initiated the formation of the Southeast Asian Dispute Resolution Network (SEADRN) which will later become a forum for Mediation and Arbitration institutions in Southeast Asia in order to organize various activities and annual Alternative Dispute Resolution activities in rotation from one Southeast Asian country to another,” said the President of DSI.

Furthermore, Prof. Sabela Gayo, S.H., M.H., Ph.D., CPL., said, “Activities held could be Southeast Asian Mediation and Arbitration Week, Southeast Asian Academics Roundtable, Southeast Asian ADR Festival, Southeast Asian Moot ADR Competition, Southeast Asian ADR Awards , Southeast Asian ADR Students Mobility Exchange, Southeast Asian Customary Mediator Roundtable, Southeast Asian Consumer Mediator Roundtable, Southeast Asian Maritime Mediator Roundtable, Southeast Asian Intellectual Property Mediator Roundtable, Southeast Asian Banking and Financial Services Roundtable, Southeast Asian ADR Sport Competition, Southeast Asian ADR “Music Festival and various other activities that can strengthen and campaign for the use of ADR clauses in the Southeast Asia Region,” he said.

Lastly, Prof. Sabela Gayo, S.H., M.H., Ph.D., as President of the Indonesian Dispute Council (DSI) said, “Hopefully the initiative from IDB to form the Southeast Asian Dispute Resolution Network (SEADRN) can be supported by commercial Mediation and Arbitration institutions With the existence of a network at the Southeast Asian level, it will be possible to strengthen the existence of commercial Mediation and Arbitration institutions in the Southeast Asia region,” he said.

“Hopefully the establishment of cooperation between the Indonesian Dispute Board (IDB) and other international Mediation/Arbitration institutions in the Southeast Asia region can strengthen the use of Alternative Dispute Resolution clauses among Business Actors in the Southeast Asia region thereby opening up great opportunities for professional Mediator and Ad-hoc Arbitrators in the Southeast Asia Region to work together in resolving cross-border disputes in the Southeast Asia region and make Southeast Asia the first region in the world that is most friendly with Alternative Dispute Resolution,” he concluded.
